Adrain Fort Snider
1935-2021
Adrain Fort Snider was born to Clara Heasley and Fort Louis Snider on a farm outside of Gotebo, Oklahoma on July 17, 1935.
Shortly after high school, he left Gotebo and moved to Cleveland, OK to work in the oil fields with his brother. Not liking oil field work he left and moved to OKC up where he had several jobs before landing at the City of Oklahoma City Water Department.
In 1955, Adrain met the love of his life, Louise Cowger, and married her the following year. Every year on her birthday, he would tell the story of how they met and fell in love. Their marriage brought forth three children, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He started as a laborer for the City of OKC where he retired as the Oklahoma City Water Department Director. Shortly after, he took a position for the City of Edmond, quickly becoming the Head of Edmond's Water Department. After retiring from City of Edmond, he worked as an independent contractor. Over the years, he was often recognized for the work that he did for water quality and was sought after by different companies and states.
Adrain found the Lord as an adult and followed His Savior's steps for the remainder of his life. He was a member of University Heights and then later Lone Star Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. He and Louise loved traveling making it to 49 out of 50 states, Canada and Mexico. He had various hobbies and skills; mechanic, carpentry, gardening but most he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Adrain is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Louise, his parents, brother Clinton Snider and sister-in-law Betty Snider. As well as many nieces, nephews and friends whom he loved.
Adrain is survived his by his sister Mary Margaret Wilcoxson; three children, Adrain (Brenda), Gary (Liz Nakasone) and Marilynn Freeman. Five grandsons: Joshua Snider, Christopher Matheson, Zachary Collins (Ashlynn), Daniel Snider and Timothy Freeman. Two granddaughters: Breanna Cook (Nathan) and Michaele Bristow (Sean). Six great grandchildren: Amanda Freeman, MaLinda Bristow, Ashton, Alexander, Ava Collins, and Evan Cook.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Matthews Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Lone Star Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, OK with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
