Alfred (Al) C. Jones, 80, of Edmond, OK passed away November 9, 2014 in his home.

Alfred was born Feb. 20, 1934 in Florence, SC to Douglas and Mary Jones. Al was a self-employed Painter and Building contractor for 52 years, subcontracting for Robert C. Harris and WT Carter, DBA Al Jones Painting and later as Al Jones Building Contractor.

Al was a compassionate man – he would literally give anyone the shirt off his back if they needed it. He had a great love for the outdoors. He loved to fish with his brothers, friends, grandsons and nephews. He loved horses owning several. He enjoyed looking out his patio door into his backyard at the deer, squirrels, and birds. He also was a rodeo star in his younger days. Al was preceded in death by his wife Faye R. Jones, one son Alan C. Jones, one daughter Alison Jones, his mother Mary Henderson, 6 brothers, and 4 sisters. He is survived by daughters; Shelby Jones and husband Kevin Schwartz, Sheila Aaron and husband Bryan, Diana Freeman and husband Michael, brother-in-law Billy Taylor, grandchildren; Michael Freeman and wife Jessica, Ashley Stringer and husband Daniel, Tyson Jacobs and wife Tami, Aaron Jacobs and wife Jennifer, Zachary Aaron, Daniel Davis and wife Heather, Kenneth Davis and wife Sarah, great grandchildren; Ashlyn & Dylan Stringer, Kolton, Grayson, and Carly Freeman, Taryn & Teagan Jacobs, Jovie Jacobs, Kayliegh, Zach, Loggan, and Dax Davis, special nieces and nephews too numerous to name.

Services are 11 am Thursday November 13, 2014 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond, OK.
