Alma L. Benedict

1918-2016

Alma L. Benedict, 98, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2016, surrounded by her family. Born on January 12, 1918 in Boynton, OK to Henry and Lydia Boedecker and soon after moved with her family to Bedford Park, IL.

A longtime resident of Britton, OK and Edmond, OK, She was a bookkeeper by trade and a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. She volunteered in many youth programs as well as the 1989 Oklahoma Olympic festival. She was inducted into the Oklahoma Bowling Hall of Fame for youth coaching and received the National Philatelic Educator of the Year as a youth stamp collecting teacher for her classes on Saturday mornings at the Edmond Library. She enjoyed crocheting Christmas ornaments and selling them at many Christmas Bazaars in the Edmond Area. She truly cherished her bridge club ladies. Some of our fondest memories are of her with her camera at all family gatherings. She taught us all to be a servant to others.

She was preceded in death by her husband Sam Benedict, Brother Henry Boedecker, sisters Opel Turvey, Minnie Neumann, Elenore "Toot" Smith. Those left to cherish her memories are her Sister Mildred Fleischman of Louisville, KY, countless nieces and nephews across America and the world. Daughter Toni Noe and husband Larry Noe of Edmond, grandson Michael Noe and wife Lori Noe of Edmond, two great grandchildren Ashley Shell and husband Charles Shell of Norman and Jessica Noe of Edmond. She was also a proud great-great-grandmother to Graysen Kenmore, Ellie Shell and Dylan Shell.
