1924-2014

Andros Otis (Andy) Peck was born March 17, 1924 to Andros and Ferne St. John on a farm in Union County, S. Dakota. The family moved to Hawarden, Iowa in 1929 where Andy graduated from high school. He attended Columbia School of Broadcasting before enlisting in the Army Air Corps – (the old brown shoe air force). Andy served as an A-20 pilot in the South Pacific from 1943-1946. He was recalled in 1953 and served five more years at Walker AFB, Roswell, New Mexico as a B-36 pilot and at Clark AFB Philippines as maintenance officer.

Growing up in the Great Depression years his family did not have the luxury of a car, and Andy was flying planes in the military before he learned to drive a car. Andy attended the University of Denver, the University of Iowa and received his degree in civil engineering from Iowa State University. He worked as a planning officer for the Bureau of Reclamation in Boulder City, Nevada, San Bernardino, California and Oklahoma City, OK. Following retirement Andy continued to live in Edmond until his death on April 14, 2014.

He was active in NARFE, Keep Edmond Beautiful, Inc., Southern Hills Christian Church and Mobil Meals. Andy helped organize the PALS program, Physically Active lifestyle for Seniors and enjoyed his association with fellow volleyball players. For several years Andy was recognized as the oldest walker in Edmond's annual CROP Walk.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and one brother. He is survived by his wife Beth of 50 years; three children George, Barstow, CA. David and wife Diana, Orcutt, CA and Karen Lowe, Parker, CO; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. His is also survived by one brother Herbert of Florida and ten nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Southern Hills Christian Church, Edmond with burial to follow at a later date at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside California.
