Arnold Lee Courts, 78, long-time resident of Edmond, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 24, 2013. Born September 5, 1934, in Okeene, OK, to William and Jennie (Dikkers) Courts, he graduated from Okeene High School in 1952. He married Delores Ann Buckley in 1978, and together they established Mid-State Appraisals in Edmond in 1985, where he managed until his retirement in 2012. He was an active member of the Edmond Lion's Club, serving as Vice President, President, and then Taletwister. He attended Crossings Community Church, and he enjoyed fishing, camping, visiting family, and meeting friends for breakfast in downtown Edmond, where he was a founding member of the "L&B Club" (Liars & Braggers). He is preceded in death by his wife Delores, sons Danny and Richard, his parents, brothers Harold and Jim, and a sister, Doris (Courts) Fast. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Owen James of Oklahoma City, his son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Denise Courts of Oklahoma City, his step-children Bruce and Cindy Buckley of Edmond, Dennis Buckley of Oklahoma City, DeeAnn and Mark Caples of Coppell, TX, and Melissa and Darrell Steele of Goldsboro, NC, his brother, Oliver, and his wife Maxine, of Crosslake, MN, a sister-in-law Iola, of Monte Vista, CO, daughters-in law Tami Courts of Oklahoma City and Ladonna Courts of Edmond. Arnold was a devoted grandpa to 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and a loving uncle to several nieces and nephews. His jokes and good nature are missed by a host of family and friends. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home. In following his wishes, all are invited to a celebration of his life to be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond. Interment in Memorial Park Cemetery will follow services.
