B. Michael Carroll
Mike Carroll passed on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 in Oklahoma City, OK. Mike was born on July 13, 1952 to Omer and Billie Carroll in Pauls Valley, OK. Mike moved with his family to Williston, SC in 1952, where he grew up, before returning to OK to attend Oklahoma Christian University.
Mike later met Lisa, his wife of 40 years, and they married in Richardson, TX on June 30, 1979. Mike and Lisa have three sons: Jon, Colin, and James. Mike was a family man; he coached many of his sons' soccer teams and was their biggest fan in life. As a proud father, Mike was eager to share all of his sons' accomplishments – once Mike knew, everyone knew.
Mike was a member of the Memorial Road church of Christ and CIA Bible class in Edmond, and believed in sharing God's love through humble acts of service. He enjoyed taking his grandsons to church and teaching their Bible classes, working with animal charities, and volunteering with Boy Scouts. Mike also spent much time in conversation with the Lord, often beginning his prayers with, "Hello God, it's me again," as if talking with a close friend.
Growing up in Williston, SC, Mike was involved in church, sports, and Boy Scouts. He particularly enjoyed scouting and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Mike attended Williston Elko High School and graduated as part of the class of 1970. Returning to OK that same year, he attended Oklahoma Christian University where he earned a degree in accounting and was a founding member of OC's Delta Gamma Sigma social club.
Mike spent his career as an accountant, but if you were to ask him, he was in the business of people. Mike loved getting to know people and what made them unique, which allowed him an understanding of how best to serve. Mike started his career at First National Bank of Oklahoma City in 1974. He began on the night shift, and eventually worked his way up to Vice President. Mike then worked at Liberty National Bank of Oklahoma City from 1982-1997. Mike became a certified public accountant in 1985. In 1997, Bond Payne and Mike co-founded Heritage Trust Company of Oklahoma City, where Mike served as CEO until he retired in December, 2019. He is remembered for his kind heart and love for people. He was known around the office for his favorite saying, "It's about the people." Mike served on the board of numerous charities and organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America Last Frontier Council, Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, OC's Business Advisory Board, New Leash on Life, MOKAN, Charles Morton SHARE Foundation, The Lockhart Foundation, Best Friends of Pets, and Clyde R. Evans Scholarship Award Trust.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Carroll; three sons, Jon of Boulder, CO; Colin of Tulsa; and James of Edmond and their spouses Chris, Kelsey, and Molly; three grandchildren, Mac, Rowan, and Tessa; sister Sarie Tuten and husband Terrill of Barnwell, SC; brother Paul Carroll and wife Teresa of Aiken, SC; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and two dogs that loved him very much.
