Barbara Kay Brennan

Barbara Kay Church Brennan passed away peacefully, surrounded by the people who loved her most, in the comfort of her home in Edmond, on July 24th, 2026. She was born on May 18th, 1944, in Oklahoma City, to William Wells Church Jr and Maxine Sullivan Church. She attended Oklahoma City Schools, graduating from Northwest Classen High School, where she was an active member of The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She went on to attend and graduate from Central State University.

While at Central State, Barbara was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. It was at a Fraternity Sorority mixer she met and fell in love with Tom Brennan. Barbara and Tom were married on August 13th, 1965. They celebrated 60 years of marriage and had six wonderful children, as well as 13 beautiful grandchildren, and two great grandchildren with a third due in August.

With Tom’s career in the oil industry, they moved to Denver, and Houston, before returning home to Edmond. Barbara always loved helping children, and was a wonderful teacher, which led to careers at New Horizons Child Development Center, From the Top Dancewear, and Patti’s Hallmark. Barbara’s primary passion though, was as wonderful Mother to her children and a loving Nanny to her grandchildren. Her goal was to help anyone and everyone. She had a genuine passion for taking care of and helping others.

Barbara always loved gardening, doing puzzles, playing cards, cooking, baking, crafting, decorating, but most important of all, spending time with her family. Barbara was a dedicated University of Oklahoma fan, especially their football. On any given Saturday in the fall, no one was cheering louder for the Sooners than Barbara. Her football games were only complete when she had a Coca Cola in her hand, always in a red cup. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She leaves behind a large legacy and will be forever missed.

Barbara is survived by her husband Tom, of the home. Son Chris Brennan of Edmond, Daughter Stephanie Milburn and husband John, of Edmond, Son Andrew Brennan and wife Courtney, of Edmond, Son Robb Brennan and wife Casey, of Edmond, Son Blake Brennan and wife Jessica, of Edmond, Son Chase Brennan, and husband Ryan Johnson of Oklahoma City. Grandchildren Rachael Brennan, Jake Brennan (Braxton), Hannah Messner (Gage), Joy Brennan, Jameson Milburn (Rose), Jackson Milburn, Jefferson Milburn, Kourtlynn Brennan, Zander VanZant, Bennett Brennan, Will King, Conor Brennan, Austin Brennan, Beau Brennan, and Great Grandchildren India and Torren. Her sister Carolyn Laubach (Leland), Sister-in-Law, Joann Manion (Dave) and Sister-in-Law Susie Brennan. Niece and Nephews Lyndee Songer, Michael Laubach, Nick Manion, Jason Manion, and Patrick Brennan. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Patti DeGroot, and brother-in-law Pat Brennan.

Viewing and visitation will be held Thursday, July 30th, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly Ave, Edmond, followed by a graveside service on Friday, July 31st, 2026, at 10:00 am at Memorial Park Cemetery, 13400 N Kelley Ave. Oklahoma City.
