Barry Andrew Cox

1963-2024

Our loving husband, father, brother and friend Barry Andrew Cox went home to be with the Lord on June 1, 2024. He was 60 years old.

Barry was born in Oklahoma City on November 11, 1963, on Veteran's Day, to Gerald and Shirley Cox. When Barry was a young boy, his family moved to Edmond to a wooded acreage in Arrowhead Hills, where Barry began his love of the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and yard work. He could identify every bird, bird call, tree, plant, and bug. Barry was brilliant. He graduated from Edmond Memorial High School in 1982.

Barry attended Oklahoma State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology Degree majoring in Construction Management Technology. Barry met Angela Cuddeback in 1987. They married a year later and were blessed with two sons, Baylor and Lee. Barry and Angela were married 35 years.

Barry started working at his family business when he was in high school and worked from the ground up to ultimately become President of E.V. Cox Construction. The company built numerous Walmarts, commercial buildings and schools (including Chisholm Elementary where both Baylor and Lee attended elementary school). E.V. Cox Construction received several national Tilt Up Concrete Association Awards for Suburban Furniture, The Bricktown Sonic Building, and The Lake Hefner Light House to name a few.

Barry loved to travel and took his family on numerous family vacations. Nevis, Mexico, Captiva Island, Las Vegas, Marco Island, and Grand Caymen are just a few of the vacations that Barry provided his family with. A special trip he would take with his boys, friends and Dad was an annual Father's Day fishing trip to Canada. His family also enjoyed their lake house at Grand Lake.

Barry is survived by his wife, Angela; his children, Baylor and Lee; and his daughters-in-law Phoebe and Lauren. His sister, Christi Cox Eischeid and brother-in-law Bill Eischeid, niece Blair Eischeid Jones and her husband Dr. Alex Jones; and nephew Andy Eischeid. His mother-in-law, Donna Cuddeback. His sister-in-law, Tara Cuddeback Prince and her husband Phil Prince; and nephews, Brady and Paden Prince. His brother-in-law, Patrick Cuddeback; and fiancé Amy Tinney; and nephews, Kyler and Kamden Cuddeback.

A celebration of Barry's life will be held at Matthews Funeral Home on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. Friends and family are invited to gather for the burial at Memorial Park Cemetery directly afterwards. Barry's family wants to thank all the family and friends that provided so much love and support during Barry's 10 month battle with kidney cancer. Barry's family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at Tessa's Landing, a private hospice house in Edmond, for their compassionate care during his final days at home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Tessa Gregg, 2012 Thomas Trail, Edmond, OK 73003 in support of Tessa's Landing.

Barry's legacy of love, knowledge and dedication to his family and community will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
