Beatrice Reid

1930-2014

Beatrice Irene (Lantz) Reid went to be with her Lord and Savior on Nov. 3, 2014. She was surrounded by her loving family and many fellow workers.

She was born October 21, 1930, in Abilene, KS. She was raised in Coyle, OK, where she met and married Ed Reid, Jr. From this union she had three daughters and one son who were raised in Edmond and sent through the Edmond school system.

As a long time resident of Edmond, Bea was always involved in the food service sector. In the 1960's she owned and operated a local delicatessen. Later on she would begin her career with the Edmond Public School System as a food service worker, where up until her death, she was a dedicated worker for 46 yrs. at Edmond Memorial High School. So dedicated in fact that after moving to Piedmont 10 years ago, she would still commute into Edmond to work at her beloved job. She immensely enjoyed serving the many hundreds of kids that came through the serving line over the years, looking upon each as if they were her own child.

Among the many positive traits that Bea had, the most endearing one was the fact that she never met a stranger. Once you met Bea you were her friend for life. She will never be replaced and will be sorely missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ed in 2011, and is survived by her four children, Connie Norman, Ed Reid III (Bud), Jean Williams, and Sharon Hiner; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Services are Saturday, Nov. 8, 2:00 p.m., at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond. Graveside service to follow.
