Betty Jo "Boots" Dutcher

1931-2018

On June 17, 2018, our beloved wife, Mom and Grammy departed this life a few weeks shy of her 87 th birthday. She was at home with her husband and son by her side.

Betty was born on July 11, 1931 in Britton, OK and was the daughter of Archie Frank McGibbon and Iola Marie Brewer McGibbon. Her nickname, "Boots" was given to her by her dad, after a cartoon character with similar very curly hair. She grew up in Meridian, OK and graduated from Guthrie High School. She also attended Blackwood Business College and Central State University. Over the years, she worked for Guthrie Cotton Oil, Guthrie Job Corps Center, Baker Oil Tools, Charles Mauer Oil Properties, Elliott Fenton, Atty., David Morgan, Atty. and Thomas A. Williams, Atty.

On June 2, 1967, she married Benson (Bennie) Dutcher. She and Bennie had 51 wonderful years together in which they loved raising longhorn cattle and many other farm animals, gardening, bird-watching and thoroughly enjoying the farm life. Betty loved the Lord and her church family at First Presbyterian Church in Edmond. She cherished her Bible Study group of ladies that she loved very much. So many of them called, visited and brought food in her final weeks and days at home.

Betty, also fondly known as Grammy, was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved nothing more than having her family around her and nothing made her happier. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress and Bridge player.

She leaves behind husband Bennie of the home in Edmond; son, Joseph Craven, of Guthrie; daughter, Karen Craven Martin and husband Von of Edmond; grandchildren, Mackenzie Craven, Guthrie; Glenn A. Craven, Kansas City, MO;

Tara Martin of Edmond; Kali Martin Clark and husband Josh of Edmond; great-granddaughter Stella Clark of Edmond; sister, Joyce Youngker of Edmond and numerous much-loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Will Archie "Bill" McGibbon; and sisters, Vera L. Sanders; Avis Fansler; Sylvia Manley and Berneta Moore.

The family would like to thank Mom and Bennie's very special caregiver, as well as Barbara with Centennial Hospice.

Viewing will be from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 22 at Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, OK. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 23 at First Presbyterian Church, Edmond, OK.
