Betty Jean Wymer

Betty Jean (Tidball) Wymer, 85, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away, surrounded by family, on March 17, 2026.

Betty’s memorial service will be held on Friday, March 27th, at 2pm at Matthew’s Funeral Home Chapel, 601 S Kelly Ave, Edmond OK. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City.

Betty was born in Oakwood, Oklahoma on January 6, 1941 to Paul and Eva (Stratton) Tidball. She grew up on their farm near Canton. This gave her a strength that she would always carry with her. She married the love of her life, Larry, on January 12, 1963. They eventually made their home in Edmond, Oklahoma, where they’ve lived for almost 50 years. Betty was a CPA and managed Dr. Peter Kierl’s orthodontic office for many years.

Betty’s life can best be encapsulated with three words: Family, Food, and Fun. Her family meant everything to her, especially her grandchildren. She took great pride in everything they did, and never missed a concert, theatre performance, or game. Betty loved to cook big family meals, and her family loved getting to take home leftovers for later. Family favorites were chicken fried steak, brisket, chocolate chip pound cake, banana pudding and her famous “pink salad”.

Laughter filled times with family, and they remember her as being very witty. She loved to reminisce with family, especially her sisters, who were her best friends.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Larry Wymer; her daughter, Kim Wymer; her son, Brandon Wymer and his partner Christi Markham; her stepdaughter Marlys Cervantes and her husband José; her beautiful grandchildren Eva Wymer, Grace Wymer, Ben Wymer, and Katherine Wymer; her step-granddaughters Alana (Cervantes) White and her husband Melvin, and Grayson Markham; her sisters Patty (Tidball) Johnson, Carol (Tidball) Nichols, and Debbie (Tidball) Walling; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel in Edmond, OK. Interment is to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City, OK.
