Beverly Ann Briscoe

Beverly Ann (Lightner) Briscoe, 88, was born on May 3, 1938, to Dorothy and Edward “Eddie” Lightner. She grew up on a farm in west Oklahoma County and graduated from Northwest Classen High School as a member of the first graduating class from the school’s new building.

Beverly was involved in the Oklahoma County Junior Farm Bureau and was even honored as Oklahoma County Farm Bureau Queen. One evening in the fall of 1959, she was introduced to George Briscoe by a friend at Royce Café in Edmond. They attended the Christmas banquet together that year hosted by the Farm Bureau and from that time on they continued dating until their marriage.

During that time she worked for Citizens State Bank in the Gold Dome on Classen Boulevard. Bceverly asked George what he thought about her continuing to work after they got married. She said he told her, “Quit your job and I will take care of you.” Beverly left her job and devoted herself to her husband, home, and family.

Beverly and George had 2 children, Debra and Greg. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family deeply and gave them her all. She loved cooking and baking for her family, and her coconut cream pies were a family favorite. Thanksgiving and Christmas were especially important to her, and she took great joy in preparing holiday dinners for her children and grandchildren and having everyone gathered together around the table. Beverly also enjoyed gardening, attending to her flowerbeds, and birdwatching. She found happiness in her home, her family, and the simple things she could nurture and create with her own hands.

Sewing was another of Beverly’s great loves. She was a member of the Bernina Sewing club in Oklahoma City for many years. She and her daughter Deb spent countless hours together sewing everything from dresses to drapes. Their attention to detail earned them many blue ribbons. When her children were involved in 4-H, Beverly was always there to help, including many late nights spent finishing projects in time for the county fair.

Beverly loved her life with George. She enjoyed taking meals to the field when they were working. She enjoyed checking cattle with him. They enjoyed eating out and seldom ever missed a meal together.

Above all, Beverly loved her family. Whether she was preparing a meal, baking one of her coconut cream pies, creating a project with her children, or simply caring for the people she loved, Beverly gave her family her very best throughout her entire life.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years George, her daughter Debra and husband Paul Reynolds of Oklahoma City, her son Greg and his wife Amy Briscoe of Yukon, grandchildren Coatney Parker and husband Arthur, Ryan Reynolds and wife Stacey, Sarah Briscoe, Aaron Briscoe and wife Dianne, Caleb Briscoe and wife Kai, Lauren Briscoe, and great-grandchildren Chloe and Josie Mesa, Katharyn Briscoe, Liliana, Landon and Evangeline Blake, James and Adeline Reynolds, and Madison and Sophia Briscoe.

Visitation will be help from 1:00 P.M. to 1:45 P.M., Thursday, September 10, 2026 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel, Edmond, Oklahoma.

A service to celebrate Beverly's life will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, September 10, 2026 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel, Edmond, Oklahoma.

A graveside service will be held at 3:30 P.M., Thursday, September 10, 2026 at Spring Creek Memorial Cemetery, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
