Billie George Waters
1935 – 2019
Billie George Waters passed away May 15, 2019 in his home in Edmond, OK. He was born in Fairfax Oklahoma on July 15, 1935 to Ben Waters and Rose Osage. He was raised in Barnsdall, OK by his adopted mother Dela Worl. He enjoyed small town life, with friends who lovingly called him "Chief". He graduated Barnsdall High in 1954. He enjoyed participating in sports such as basketball, football, and track in high school and continued with football in College at Pueblo Colorado. There he met his first wife Nancy Best. They married and moved to OKC in 1958.They had two children together Dean and Dana Waters. After his first marriage ended he met and married Ellen McCollom of Edmond, OK in 1972. They had two sons, Damon and Derek Waters.
Bill enjoyed spending his time eating at regular restaurants (Pickles, Woodbridge, and The Hash) where he built a close relationship with the employees. He also enjoyed going to gossip at the barber shop, even if he didn't need a haircut. He loved playing golf with his friends and enjoyed various sports especially OSU football. He spent a lot of time driving to be with friends and family gathered around a meal or just for a visit.
Bill was an entrepreneur and owned several businesses in Norman and OKC. Later he worked in the food industry as a broker, and after retirement worked at Wal-Mart for ten years.
He was survived by his 4 children, daughter Dana Waters, sons Dean Waters & wife Laura Waters, Damon Waters & wife Larisa, Derek Waters & wife Amanda. He had 7 grandchildren, Sky, Anthony, Christian, Cora, Gabriel, Elleana, and Etta. He was preceded in death by his parents, several siblings, and his wife Ellen Waters.
In his later years, Bill struggled with numerous illness which prevented him from many things in which he loved.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday May 19, 2019 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel Edmond, OK.
