Bobbie Jo Coplen was born on June 7, 1928, in Dallas, Texas, to her loving parents, George and Julian Tennison. She grew up in Dallas and attended Forest Avenue High School, where she met the love of her life, Ernest B. Coplen—affectionately known as Bob.
On April 16, 1946, Bobbie and Bob were married, beginning a beautiful life together with a marriage made in Heaven. Bobbie devoted herself wholeheartedly to being a wife and mother—her greatest calling and proudest role.
As a young woman, Bobbie served the Lord faithfully. She volunteered as a nursery worker, Sunday School teacher, and church hostess. No matter where life took them through Bob's job with Texas Instruments, Bobbie and Bob always found a church home where they could serve and grow in their faith.
In October 1949, they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Rebecca Ann. Their son, Bruce Alan, was born in March 1957, completing their loving family. Throughout their lives, Bob and Bobbie moved many times, but after Bob's retirement, they settled in Edmond, Oklahoma, in 2000. There, they joined Quail Springs Baptist Church, continuing their lifelong commitment to faith and community.
Bobbie was blessed with a growing legacy of love—2 children, 5 grandchildren (Cindy, Melissa, Jennifer, Matthew, and Bradley), and 9 great-grandchildren (Gavin, Daniel, Nathan, Henry, Charlie, Caroline, Elizabeth, Mitchell and Archer).
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her devoted husband Bob, her cherished son Bruce, and her precious great-grandson Daniel.
Bobbie's life was a beautiful reflection of her deep love for God, her family, and her loving husband.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that you donate to the First Baptist Church, Edmond, Oklahoma and Quail Springs Baptist Church, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in honor of Bobbie Jo Coplen.
A celebration of life is scheduled at 2:00pm on April 22, 2025, at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel, Edmond, Oklahoma.
