Bonnie Eloise Broyles

April 16, 1935 — April 20, 2025

Bonnie Eloise Broyles, 90, passed peacefully from this life on April 20, 2025 in Norman, Oklahoma.  She was born April 16, 1935 in Mill Creek, Oklahoma to parents William Earl Pittman and Jewel McKinley (McClure) Pittman.

At the age of 14, she felt God calling her to the ministry.  Her family couldn't afford for her to go to Waxahachie, Texas to Bible College, but her mom and dad drove her across Oklahoma to preach and sing at tent revivals all over the state.  She was the worship leader, church secretary or Sunday school teacher at almost every church she attended.

In 1957, after moving to California, she met and married Charles Broyles and they were the youth pastors at San Fernando Assemblies of God for three years.  In 1977, at the age of 42, she went to school to become a nurse and worked at Kaiser Hospital until they decided to move back to Oklahoma in 1979.  There she worked the OB unit at Edmond Hospital and at COMG behind Baptist Hospital until her breast cancer diagnosis in 1994.

She enjoyed baking, flower gardening, sitting down at the piano and spending time with family and friends, especially her Domino group and the girls from the neighborhood.  She loved being a mother.  She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl & Jewel Pittman; her husband, Charles Broyles; siblings, Bobby Pittman, Darrell Pittman and Patsy Pittman.

Bonnie is survived by her children, Nancy Hendrickson and husband Mark and Gary Broyles and wife Laura; grandchildren Jennifer Palmer and husband Kyle, Zoya Hendrickson, Zackery Hendrickson and Evelynn Broyles; and great-grandchildren Dakota George and Hudson Palmer; brother Billy Pittman and wife Wilma; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.

Bonnie's family will be receiving friends from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Matthew's Funeral Home in Edmond.

The family would like to thank the staff at Luxe Life Assisted Living, Apex Home Health & Hospice and the 4 th Floor nurses from Norman Regional.

A celebration of Bonnie's life will be 2:00pm on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Matthew's Funeral Home with Rev. Ron McCasslin officiating.  Interment will follow at Grace Lawn Cemetery.
