1948-2021

Bruce Ackerman passed into the glory of God on July 7, 2021, and now rests in the peace of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Bruce Ainslie Ackerman was born May 17, 1948, to William H and Margaret Ainslie Ackerman in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in journalism. During his 4 years in the U.S. Army, he received a master's in education from Boston University. After teaching High School in Ohio, he took a position as a publication's editor for Oklahoma State University. In 1990 he took a position with Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority as a member services representative retiring in 2014. He was an active member of the Kiwanis club of Edmond and a dedicated member and ruling elder at Santa Fe Presbyterian Church in Edmond.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathy; sister Nancy Frederick and husband Nicholas of Lakewood Ranch FL, brother, Bill Ackerman, and wife Michele of Yukon, OK, and sister-in-law, Karen Morra of Oklahoma City, OK. Nephew and nieces:  Jacqueline Frederick of Lakewood Ranch FL,  Barbara Hinckley and husband Jon, their children Jenna Snow and husband Blake, Jake and Jadyn all of Edmond, OK, Nicholas Frederick and wife Melissa and their children Lauren, Brooke, and Kate all of Scottsdale AZ, Jenni Shelton and her husband Daniel and their son Roman Luke all of Mustang, OK, and cousin, Bill Stewart and his wife Linda of Chino Hills, CA.

Visitation will be held at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond on Monday, July 12 from 12- 8pm with family present from 5 to 7 PM. Memorial service for Bruce are to be held at Santa Fe Presbyterian Church in Edmond at 2 PM on Tuesday, July 13 officiated by Reverend Mitchell L. Miller.
