Bruce Alan Pack
1952-2023
Our sweet and beloved Bruce Alan Pack also known as Dad, Grampy, BAP, or our "Superman" ran into the arms of Jesus on October 22, 2023. Bruce was born on January 6 th , 1952 in Wichita, Kansas to Clyde and Dorothy Pack. He moved with his family to Pleasanton, Kansas in 1965 as a tall, lanky 7 th grader with blonde hair and bright blue eyes. He quickly rose to fame as the town sports star (basketball being his favorite) and all-around good guy who liked and was liked by all. You could find him dragging main in one of his sports cars, in the b-ball gym putting up extra shots or working one of his many jobs including gas station attendant duties and bucking bales of hay for farmers. After graduating HS in 1970, Bruce joined the National Guard/Army Reserve before moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he accepted a job in building materials with Owens Corning Fiberglass. He quickly worked his way up the ladder with his charm and wit and his success in sales and management lasted over 46 years before he retired from Denver Southwest in January 2019. His career allowed him the opportunity to travel the countryside and meet new people/friends which he absolutely loved, and which came so natural to him.
Bruce married his HS sweetheart and one true love, Sherry Lynn Reves, on November 25, 1972, at the First Christian Church in Pleasanton, KS. Together they raised three wonderful children who love and adore their dad completely. In addition, Bruce and Sherry were blessed with eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren who were among Bruce's greatest delights. His career in sales took the family from Oklahoma City to Houston to Lubbock and finally back to Edmond in 1984. Bruce and Sherry made good friends everywhere they went.
Bruce and his family were members of the Edmond Christian Church for 25 years and Bruce served in various leadership roles there including his role as elder. In 2009, Bruce and Sherry placed membership at Memorial Road Church of Christ and joined the Cornerstone Class where they have been blessed with many wonderful friendships. Bruce started each morning with a cup of coffee (7-11 was his go to and not "foo foo" coffee) and his bible reading and quiet time with God. He found joy in daily activities such as reading the physical newspaper, laundry, yardwork (blowing leaves was #1) and he was the best trash collector. He was an avid competitor and was always up for a good game of driveway basketball, pool, croquet, tennis, golf, spades, dominoes among other things. He had a talent for winning most of the time. Bruce took pride in keeping his cars clean and loved watching sports. He especially loved the KC Chiefs and was a Chief's fan long before Taylor Swift. Bruce was a big sports fan but was an even bigger fan of people. If he met you, he loved you. A wave, a handshake, a smile or an atta boy were always all readily available to anyone and his joy, humor, energy, and light will forever be missed. His family cherished the encouragement, sound Godly advice and laughter he offered them so graciously and will forever marvel at how he lived out his faith all the days of his life. It is the greatest honor and privilege to call him ours and we will forever be grateful for his example.
Bruce is survived by his large, adoring fan club including his wife, Sherry; his sister Brenda Allen of Kansas; his children, daughter Courtney Dean and husband Jerrod, son Ryan Pack and wife Amanda, daughter Candiss Scovel and husband Nate; his grandchildren, Darci Pickard and husband Bryce, Chloee, Ford, Roan, Hank, Cate, Cosy and June; his great-grandchildren Mabel and Dean as well as many other loving family members and friends.
