Catherine Margaret Morrissette Perez, 49, of Cashion, Oklahoma, passed away on February 2, 2017 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Visitation will be 8:00am to 8:00pm Friday February 10th at Matthews Funeral Home 601 S. Kelly, Edmond, OK 73003.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Saturday, February 11th at Edmond Trinity Christian Church with Pastor Don Heath officiating. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home.
Cathy was born in Columbus, Ohio to Harold and Carolyn Morrissette on January 19, 1968. Her father was in the military so Cathy lived in several states and also in Okinawa, Japan before moving to Oklahoma in 1976. She attended Eisenhower Elementary School, Emerson Junior High School, and graduated from Enid High School in 1986. She went on to obtain her Bachelor's degree in business at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 1991. She married James Perez on August 4, 1995 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and they later made their home in Cashion, Oklahoma. She worked for Walmart for 23 years where she forged many long-lasting friendships. Cathy was involved in cancer awareness activities and enjoyed participating in Susan G. Komen and Relay for Life walks.
Cathy faced many health issues and each time battled courageously in order to see her children grow into the loving young adults they are today. Toward the end, we knew we needed, and were praying for, a miracle… but we realize now that the Lord answered our prayers for miracles many times over… we just always wanted more. We are forever thankful for our time with Cathy and find comfort knowing we will reunite again.
Cathy was preceded in death by her father-in-law Joe Perez, her maternal grandparents Francis and Evelyn Hunt, and her paternal grandparents Alfred and Margaret Morrissette.
Cathy is survived by her husband James, son Garrett and daughter Megan all of the home, stepson Michael and his wife Jessica of Enid, Oklahoma. Parents Harold and Carolyn Morrissette of Enid, Oklahoma, sisters Kim Boily of Foss, Oklahoma and Michelle Harrison and her husband Rod of Edmond, Oklahoma, and brother Greg and his wife Amber of Enid, Oklahoma. Grandchildren Maddox, Kody, and Adlee of Enid, Oklahoma. Mother-in-law Ann Perez, sister-in-law Tiffany Perez, and brother-in-law Jody Perez all of Edmond, Oklahoma. Cathy is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who hold many cherished memories that will sustain them through this difficult time.
Pallbearers will be Harold Morrissette Rod Harrison, Braden Boily, Nathan Boily, Darren Higgins, and Gerald Miller.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
To Dr. Wood, Dr. Reitz, Dr. Lindley and to the wonderful staff at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital (North): The Lord worked through all of you so that we could have more time with our beloved Cathy, that gift of time was precious to us all and we thank-you sincerely for the loving care you provided Cathy and our family.
