1948-2013

CDR Larry Lee Hicks, NC, USN, Ret., 64, of Edmond, OK, passed away on February 11, 2013.

The funeral service will be held at St. Monica's Catholic Church, Saturday, February 16 th , 2013 at 10am.Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 14 th from 3-9pm and Friday, February 15 th from 8am to 7pm, followed by a wake from 7-9pm at Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond. Burial will follow the funeral at Rose Hill Burial Park.

Larry was born in Oklahoma City, OK on April 1, 1948. He graduated from Classen High School and continued on to receive a Masters in Health Care Administration from Salve Regina University, Newport, Rhode Island.

Larry was married to Jackie on November 13, 1971; they were married 41 years.

Larry was a Corpsman and then a Nurse in the US Navy for 25 years. After retiring from the Navy, he worked for the Oklahoma City County Health Department for 10 years. Larry enjoyed traveling, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family. He was also actively involved in the Knights of Columbus and the Navy Nurse Corps Association.

Larry is survived by his wife, Jackie; children, Melissa and husband Jonathan Manning, Heather Hicks, and Christopher and wife Christina Hicks; grandchildren, Moira, Quinn, Ashlyne, and Zackary Manning; sister, Reta and husband Gary Clopton; nephew Josh Harlin, and many other family and friends.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents Clifton and Gerry Hicks.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the YWCA Women's Shelter Building Fund or the Infant Crisis Center.
