She was incredibly gifted and loved during her long life. She played every sport they allowed girls to participate in and was very talented at all of them, especially basketball. She was also a majorette in the band. She helped her father work their family farm, plow the fields, milk the cows, and pick cotton.
She met and married Cecil Devine in 1950. She worked in several roles supporting high school administrators in Oklahoma and Texas schools.
She loved going to the lake with her husband and traveled frequently. Her friends and family nicknamed her "The boss" or "The enforcer" because she always had strong opinions about how things should be done, and it was rare her advice was not followed. She was able to sew, bake famously delicious pies, and had a keen mind for business, starting several successful companies throughout her life.
Delma was dearly loved by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had a tremendous amount of sass and her sense of humor left people laughing wherever she went.
