Chad Randall Schmidt, 55, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away at his home on Monday, September 7, 2026.
Chad was born June 21, 1971, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Jacquelyn K. Schmidt and Kenneth R. Schmidt. He spent his early childhood in Minnesota before moving to Oklahoma during middle school. He graduated from Tulsa Memorial High School in 1989 and from Oklahoma State University in 1993.
At Oklahoma State, Chad was an avid football fan, a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, and a trombone player who was proud of his time in honor band. His love of sports continued throughout his life, especially volleyball, which brought him lasting friendships and many favorite memories.
Chad began his professional career in public service, working for U.S. Senator Don Nickles and later for U.S. Senator Tom Coburn. He went on to work for Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating before moving to Arizona to pursue his Master of Business Administration at Arizona State University.
His career eventually led him into pharmacy benefit management, where his business acumen earned him professional respect across the country. Chad was a hard worker, exceptionally quick-witted, and fiercely funny. He leaves behind many notes and messages of gratitude from people who worked with him over the years.
Chad will be remembered in many ways by the people who knew him throughout different seasons of his life.
Most importantly, Chad leaves behind his two children, Chandler Grace Schmidt of Denver, Colorado, and Cameron Elliott Schmidt of Edmond, Oklahoma.
He is also survived by his father, Kenneth Schmidt of California; his sister, Anna Ericsson of Florida; and additional family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jacquelyn Schmidt.
