Charles F. Blewett

1946-2024

Charles F Blewett, "Charlie" or "Chuck" passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024 of injuries from a fall the day before.

Arrangements are under the direction of  Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond.  A memorial celebration for family and friends will be held at a later date.

Charlie was born May 31, 1946 in Los Angeles, California to David and Mildred Haggard Blewett.  The family settled in Durant where he attended elementary school, then later moved to Lawton where he graduated from Lawton High School in 1964.  He married Vicki Skelton on January 10, 1975.

From a young age Charlie loved having a job and "paying his way", having started his employment at LaSill's Milk and Ice Cream at age 13 in Lawton and as a carrier for the Lawton Constitution.  He was one of those rare individuals who looked forward to going to work each day,  working in the grocery business for 60 years in Lawton, Oklahoma City, Stillwater, Ponca City and Antlers, OK.    Having lived and worked in Antlers for the past 25 years, he and Vicki relocated to Edmond last  year.   Charlie loved keeping up with long-time friends,  news, sports and politics, staying up to date with current events.   He was a member of the church of Christ.

Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Vicki Blewett, his brother and sister-in-law Tom and Marlene Blewett of Signal Mountain, TN, sister and brother-in-law Genie and Charles Kelsey of Lawton OK, sister-in-law Joann Blewett of Bel Air, Maryland, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Bobbie and  Jeff Walker of Edmond, mother-in-law Jettye Skelton of Edmond, and  numerous nephews and nieces.  He was dearly loved by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents and more recently  his brother Bill Blewett.

In  lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Jude's Hospital or Tunnel to Towers.

A celebration will be scheduled at a later date.
