Charles Wayne Cox was born in Temple, OK, to William D. and Elsie (Bingham) Cox on March 31, 1949, the youngest of six children. He passed away at home in Oklahoma City on June 20th, 2026. Charles graduated from Norman High School in 1967 and from Oklahoma University in 1971 where he majored in Law Enforcement. He was in the Army Reserves from 1971-1977. He married Eva Lou (Richard) in 1975. He worked as a warehouse selector for Scrivner, Fleming, and Sysco Foods.
Charles was always serious about fitness, and was the Oklahoma heavyweight armwrestling champion for many years. He liked trying his luck at the casino, was an avid reader, enjoyed watching sports (especially OU Football), and loved spending time with his grandsons.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents; siblings Velma Norene Henderson, Billy Cox, Helen Bowen, Rena Sue Hewitt, and Sheryl Brumit.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Cox; son Harley Cox and wife Heather; grandsons William D. “Liam” Cox and Aidan Cox, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In accordance with his wishes, a funeral service will not be held. Instead, friends and family are invited to come together for lunch Sunday, June 28th, 1:00-3:00 p.m., at his favorite restaurant, The Lazy Donkey Mexican Restaurant, 857 NW 12th St, Moore, OK 73160. It will be come-and-go as you like, and casual dress.
