Edmond, Oklahoma

Charles "Bill" W. Deeds Jr., a proud American, devoted family man, and lifelong resident of Oklahoma, passed away leaving behind a legacy of service, faith, and love.

Proud of his Czech heritage, Bill lived his entire life in the state he loved. He answered the call to serve his country with distinction, retiring from the United States Army as a Chief Warrant Officer after 30 dedicated years of service. Following his military career, Bill continued his strong work ethic by serving as a postal worker for another 10 years.

Deeply committed to his community and fraternal organizations, Bill was a 32nd Degree Mason and an Oklahoma Shriner. He was a member of the Oklahoma Guthrie Scottish Rite, an organization he was extremely proud of and devoted to.

Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved being outdoors.

Bill’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. He served as a Methodist Sunday school teacher at Cashion United Methodist Church and was most recently a member of St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Bill shared 40 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Jessica L. Smith Deeds. Family brought him immense joy, and he cherished his roles as a husband, father, brother, and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. Deeds and Virgie Sander; his sister, Patsy Deeds; his stepson, Shane Steven Olney; and his dear, lifelong best friend, Dave Fox.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Jessica L. Smith Deeds; his brother, Larry Deeds and his wife Ann; his sister, Peggy and her husband Mark Marquart; his sister-in-law Deborah Ann Smith-Quan and husband Tien Van Quan. He is also survived by his loving family, including step-grandsons Truett Steven Austin Olney and Garrett Mitchel Olney; Garrett’s fiancée, Adrianna Martinez (daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rafael Martinez); Renee Walker Olney, wife of the late Shane Steven Olney, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the Integris Cancer Center and Integris Hospice for the compassionate care they provided. Your kindness, support, and professional care made all the difference and meant the world to the family during this time.

Bill will be deeply missed and forever loved.
