Charles (Chuck, Charlie) Herman was born in Staples, Minnesota to Edward and Louise Herman. He was the youngest of 8 children, Baby Boy, sisters Lola and Darlene, brothers Edward (Bud), Leroy ,Gordon, and Dale.

Charles graduated from Staples High School in 1950. He then attended St. Cloud State University for two years. In 1953/54, he was employed as a boiler operator on giant iron ore boats sailing the Great Lakes. In 1954 – 1956 he enlisted in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Stationed in Newport News, Virginia, he served as an anti-aircraft missile guidance technician. He earned the National Defense Service Medal. After the Army, he returned to St. Cloud State, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He secured employment at Deluxe Check Printers in Minneapolis/ St. Paul. He began as a draftsman and rose quickly through the company ranks into management, eventually relocating to Oklahoma City where he was in charge of opening a new production facility and became the plant manager. After retiring from Deluxe, Charlie opened his own real estate company. With wife Ferne, he took pride in securing or selling homes for clients, many of whom became friends. Upon full retirement, Charlie enjoyed gardening and tinkering around the house. Charlie and Ferne were long-time members of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Edmond, OK, where he served as an usher for Sunday services for many years.

Charlie and Ferne Herman were married for 72 years. The couple had 4 children.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and wife.

He is survived by his children; Jeff Herman of Minneapolis, MN, Brad Herman and wife Rhonda of Larue, TX, Keith Herman and wife Elizabeth of Lewisville, TX, Deborah (Herman) Pradarits and husband Keith of Kennesaw, GA, grandchildren James Herman and wife Loni, Joey Pradarits and wife Maria, Lynne' Herman, Jeremy Pradarits and wife Amanda, Jessica Pradarits and Scott Mohrman, and Jared Pradarits, 8 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Peggy (Dale) Herman, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
