Cheryl Lynn Gubitosi

November 30, 1944 — November 30, 2023

Cheryl Lackmeyer Gubitosi, mom to Rebecca, Granny to her grand- niece Keira, sister-in-law and friend to Stella, and aunt to Steve, Jennifer, Chris and Rachel, is in heaven where she won't ever have to cook again.

Unless she wants to.

Cheryl passed away on May 24 after a long happy life in which, after the birth of her child, not a moment passed without her thinking about her daughter Rebecca Lester. They loved to travel, sometimes short distances, sometimes long, and often to Dallas and Branson.

When Rebecca met the love of her life, husband David Lester, he was a blessing to both and was every bit a son to Cheryl.

Cheryl was born on September 28,1945 to Otto and Caroline Lackmeyer in their longtime home- town of Lindenhurst, New York. She graduated from Lindenhurst High School, where she pursued an array of interests including French and literary clubs, broadcasting and yearbook. She majored in math and language, two skills that would serve her well in her career.

She moved to Oklahoma with Caroline in 1981 to be closer to her brother Robert and his family. After moving to Oklahoma, Cheryl worked at Canam Construction before working for United Mechanical, where she retired as controller after 15 ½ years.

She reaffirmed her faith in Christ in 1980. Cheryl was a member of several churches, eventually settling permanently at Henderson Hills Baptist Church. Her favorite Bible verse was Philippians 4:13; "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents Otto and Caroline and brother Robert. In addition to her daughter, nephews and nieces, and grand- niece Keira, she is survived by grand-nephews Dylan, Connor, Kaden and John, and grand-nieces Audrey and Emery.
