Christopher D. Yager
1973-2019
Christopher Don Yager, 46, of Norman, Oklahoma passed away suddenly of cardiac arrest on July 2, 2019. He spent most of his life in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Chris was born in Huntington, Long Island, New York on March 5, 1973. He was the son of Don and Paula Yager, and brother to Lisa Marotta. Chris attended Oklahoma Christian School and graduated from Edmond Memorial High School in 1992.
Chris overcame many challenges in his short, but full life. He completed local college classes despite significant learning disabilities and severe mental illness. Through Chris's determination and the support of a caring community, he achieved his goal of living independently in Norman, Oklahoma and thriving with meaningful work at BJ's Restaurant and Brewery. Chris was proud to recently earn his "green apron" at BJ's, which acknowledged his work ethic and dedication as a team member.
Survivors include his mother, Paula (Yager) Sander and her husband Joel; sister, Dr. Lisa Marotta and her husband Sal; niece, Lindsay Whitworth and her husband Sean; niece, Katelyn Marotta; and many friends and caring professionals.
He is preceded in death by his father T. Don Yager, and his grandparents.
Chris was devoted to his family and friends. He loved video games, all things Star Wars, and 2-liter bottles of soda. Chris will be remembered for his playful spirit, and contagious giggle.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 15 at 10:00 am at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 15400 North Western Ave, Edmond, OK 73013.
