1936-2014

Curtis Joseph Hayes 78, long- time resident of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away July 17, 2014. Curt was born Feb. 28, 1936 in Ponca City, OK to Bernard and Virginia Hayes. He was a proud graduate of Oklahoma State University and member of the U.S. Army. He was also known by his family as the world's best geologist.  He enjoyed his career with the OK Department of Transportation for over 35 years.

He was also a humorist and speaker of agronomy at many events across the nation. Curt was also recognized for his outstanding 15 year service to the Kerr McGee Swim Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn and brother, Craig.

Survivors include:  two daughters (Michelle Scroggins and Marti Black) , two sons-in-law,  four grandchildren, one great-grandson, five nieces, one nephew, ten grand nieces, seven grand nephews, two cousins, 2 sister-in-laws and 1 brother- in-law.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 21, 2014 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel.
