D. Raymond (Ray) Berry was born May 21, 1920 in Henderson, Texas. On December 12, 2013, he peacefully left for his eternal home.
His parents, Jack and Nora Berry had 6 children, Ray being the 5th child, and he survived all his siblings. They were Brady Mae Alexander, Blanche Beaber, Maurine Berry, Rayford Berry and Faydell Hill.
In July, 1946, Ray married Dorothy (Dot) Berry from Verona, Mississippi. They lived 2 years in Texas before moving to California, where their two children, Cherie and Galen were born. They moved to Mississippi in 1958 where they lived for 33 years, hosting the annual convention on their property for the Christian Convention church. In 1991, they moved to Edmond, Oklahoma to be near their children. Ray professed to serve the Lord when he was a young man and
assembled with the Christian Convention Church all his life. Ray worked as an upholsterer for 20 years before changing careers to Maintenance Foreman for Consolidated Packaging plant, in Clinton, Mississippi, where he
retired. Being an engineer, he was very skilled with his hands, could repair most anything, and he enjoyed inventing items from the shop in his back yard. He served in the Army from June, 1942 to Dec. 18, 1945. where he was a medical technician assigned to 20th Field Hospital unit during WW2. He saw action on two war fronts. The European Theater and the Battle of Attu, Alaska expelling the Japanese invaders.
Ray is survived by his wife Dot and 2 children, Cherie Kropp and Galen Berry; 2 grandchildren, Kelly Kropp and his wife Cici, and Julie Krista (Kropp) Crowell and husband Dave; and 4 great grandchildren, Keven, Sofia and Kyra Kropp and Megan Crowell.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, December 16 at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly, Edmond OK.
