1977-2018

Dan Loeffler, age 40, died on April 2, 2018 after courageously facing cancer for two years. Dan was born in Oklahoma City to Deborah and Alan Loeffler on November 3rd, 1977. After completing high school at Christian Heritage Academy, he earned a B.A. in Philosophy from Wheaton College, where he was also a pitcher for the baseball team. In 2003, Dan earned his J.D., with honor, from the University of Michigan Law School where he served as an editor for the Michigan Law Review. Upon graduation, he spent a year as a law clerk for Chief Judge Roger Gregory of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in Richmond, VA. In 2005, Dan's legal career continued in Washington, D.C. as a lawyer with the firm Kellogg, Hansen, Todd, Figel & Frederick.

Dan returned to Oklahoma City in 2008 where he met his wife, Allison Briggs, and the two married on November 21st, 2009. Dan's greatest joy was their two children, Harry and Leah. In 2010, Dan joined the law firm McAfee & Taft. Dan made a career shift in 2012 to in-house legal counsel for Federal Corporation, a fourth-generation family business and became President of the company in 2013.

Dan's generosity and compassion for those experiencing poverty led him to serve for a number of non-profit organizations over the years. Dan was an active volunteer for tutoring programs, adoption legal services, and social and racial justice efforts. From 2011 – 2015, Dan served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Skyline Urban Ministry, a United Methodist ministry in Central Oklahoma serving those in need, where he helped expand their programs and services.

Dan is survived by his parents, Alan and Deborah Loeffler, younger brother Luke, wife Allison and their two young children, Harry and Leah; maternal Grandmother Mary Beer; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Dan's funeral service will be held at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 7. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Skyline Urban Ministry located in Oklahoma City.
