David Kyle Carr

December 3, 1968 — October 17, 2025

Edmond

David Kyle Carr passed away unexpectedly at his home on October 17, 2025. He was born on December 3, 1968, in Irving, Texas, to Anita Carr and Raymond Norman Wood Carr.

David earned an Associate Degree in Arts and Sciences from North Lake College in 1990 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration where he graduated cum laude from the University of North Texas in 1994. He spent many years working alongside his brother Robert at Robert’s company before starting his own path in software development. Since March of 2014, he had worked as a developer for Teleflora, where he continued doing what he loved—learning, creating, and problem-solving.

David was a lifelong learner. His home was filled with books on computer science, investing and finance, World War II, health and supplements, philosophy, and more. He loved movies and music, and in recent years especially enjoyed attending music festivals and other live music events with one of his best friends, Chuck. He was so proud to watch his oldest son Ethan perform with his band, and he loved movie nights with his kids—especially Marvel marathons and long debates about which superhero was the strongest.

Family was important to David, and he was lucky enough to not only have a big brother in Robert but also be best friends with him. He loved joking around with and teasing his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He and his sister, Paula, loved to talk about their genealogy and ancestry.

David adored animals, especially dogs. Any dog, any size—he loved them all, and they always loved him right back. He had a quick wit and a great sense of humor, and though he was often quiet, when he laughed, it filled the room.

Above all else, David loved his three kids more than anything in this world. Listening to Ethan’s band, talking philosophy with him, debating Marvel heroes with Kaedyn, watching Roman play basketball, and hanging out for movies and anime—those were his happiest moments. He was a devoted, proud dad through and through.

David was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Joellen. He is survived by his former wife, Janna Carr, and their three children: Ethan James Carr (25) and his wife Zoe Carr, Kaedyn Marie Carr (19), and Roman Kyle Carr (15). He is also survived by his siblings Deanna Stein of Texas, Norma Dixon of Texas, Paula Couch and her husband Jim Couch, and Robert Carr and his wife Liz Carr; as well as many nieces and nephews—Rob Brown and wife Leah, Frank Carr and wife Anna, Kasey Carr and longtime partner, Mike, Teri Carr and husband Riley, Steven Cannon and wife Stephanie, Dawn Code, Erin Schubert and husband Brian, and David Poe—and many, many great-nieces and nephews.

David’s presence was quiet but powerful, and he is already deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 24, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in David’s memory to your favorite animal rescue.
