David James Cathey
November 25, 1966 – July 6, 2017
David was born at Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City on November 25, 1966, sharing a birthday with his maternal grandfather. He grew up in Edmond, OK, attending public schools here and graduating from what is now Edmond Memorial High School in 1985. He worked for a number of years in various restaurants, becoming an excellent cook along the way. Eventually, he began working as a window cleaner, doing commercial and residential accounts. At the time of his death, he was employed with RP Window Washers. David also attended college at OSU-OKC, which he enjoyed enormously (even though it wasn't OU!). He hoped to return to school to become a drug and alcohol counselor, but sadly it wasn't meant to be. After a nearly two-year battle with cancer, he left us very suddenly on July 6. David was preceded in death by all his great-grandparents and grandparents. He is survived by his parents, Barbara and George Lynch and Larry Cathey. He is also survived by his brother, Mark Cathey of New Albany, IN, his sisters, Michele Lynch of Edmond, Melissa Rilee and husband David of Humble, TX, and Monica Lynch of Edmond. David was also survived by his beloved fiancé, Stephanie Ruggles of OKC, who stood by his side through everything and made him so very happy, her two sons Ben and Gabriel, and Tyler Woodfin, whom he loved like a son. Also surviving, are aunts Jenny Fields and husband John, and Debbie Lynch, all of Edmond, as well as a number of wonderful cousins he grew up with and loved very much, and the many great and loyal friends he made along the way.
