David L. Herrin
1952-2014
David Herrin, age 61, passed away on April 19 at the Bradford Village in Edmond, Oklahoma. David was born in Seminole, Oklahoma to parents John M. Herrin Jr. and Doris (Maddox) Herrin.
David attended Seminole schools from grades K through 12. He graduated from Seminole Junior College in 1972 and Central State University in 1974 with a business degree. After college he joined TG&Y as a management trainee. He also worked with TLC Nursery and Eckroat Seed Company.
After college David married Beverly Leggett and later they welcomed son Michael Paul Herrin to the family.
An avid fisherman, David enjoyed trout fishing and camping trips to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado and crappie and catfishing trips to Lake Eufaula in Oklahoma. He was known for his secret catfish bait recipe, which caught fish when other bait failed.
David especially enjoyed time with family and friends. He enjoyed outings with his fellow motor home and camping enthusiasts from across the Southwest. Friends were easy for David to come by, and they lasted a long time.
David is survived by his brother John M. Herrin III and wife Diana of Celina, Texas and two nieces, Lisa (Herrin) Dorenkamp of Denton, Texas and Kristin (Herrin) Johnson of Orlando, Florida. Great nephews include Alex and Nick Dorenkamp of Denton, Texas and great niece Kate Madison Johnson of Orlando, Florida.
Preceding him in death were his parents and son.
