David Dale Allen Johns

David Dale Allen (Pete) Johns was born on January 11th, 1943 in Blackwell, OK to David Harvey and Mozelle Elizabeth Johns. Pete attended Blackwell Public Schools where he graduated in 1961. Following High School he served honorably in the United States Navy for 8 years before attending Northern Oklahoma College. Pete married Karen Jane Hamilton on June 1st, 1968 at the Blackwell Church of Christ. Pete and Karen moved from Ponca City to Edmond, OK in August of 1968 where he finished his degree at Central State College. Pete and Karen welcomed a daughter, Jennifer, in 1973 and a son, Jeffrey, in 1981. He spent 22 years working at Tinker Air Force Base as a civil servant before retiring in 2008. He was an active member of the American Legion and Edmond First Church of the Nazarene where he participated in Sunday School, choir, and provided meals to members of the congregation for many years. Pete passed away in his home on October 31st. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Sister Carolyn, and Brother Dennis. He will be interred with his wife, Karen, at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Edmond. Pete is survived by his daughter Jennifer and husband Greg; son Jeffrey and wife Rachel, of Edmond; grandson Brennen and wife Kim of Oklahoma City; granddaughters Kylie, Allie, Catelyn, and Sophia, of Edmond, and his soon to be born great-granddaughter, Amelia…also Karen’s beloved lapdog Koda, who he always yelled at, but loved dearly.
