David Warren Miles II
1951-2021
David Warren Miles II took his first deep breath in Heaven on January 22, 2021 at the age of 69. He was surrounded by his loving family, who miss him dearly. David wore many hats and answered to many names throughout his life, but his most precious was that of "AwPaw" to his grandchildren.
He was born to David and Mary Miles on July 5, 1951. We take comfort knowing that they greeted him once again with open arms. He graduated from John Marshall High school in 1969 and took much pride in being a John Marshall "Bear."
He married his sweetheart, Gayla Wagner Miles, in May of 1983 and they bought a corvette. They were elated to welcome their first child, Shannon. As you can imagine, the corvette was short lived. Soon, Dave went on to prove his magnificence once again when Matthew and Meredith, the twins, were born. He was so proud of all of his children, especially the oldest, the boy and the youngest.
David lived life to his fullest. He worked hard, he played hard, and he loved well. He filled his days with fun, many sports, outdoor activities, good music, and most of all, the love of family and friends.
After retirement, he enjoyed doting on his family and friends. He perfected his kitchen techniques and recipes and he loved to feed anyone and everyone. He started every morning wishing his many friends on FB Happy Birthday, celebrating their "friendsaversy" or commenting on the happenings in their lives. David was everyone's biggest cheerleader. He was skilled at home improvement and loved to spend time in his yard. He treasured spending time with his fellow John Marshall Bears whether one-on-one or their many group outings. David never met a friend or post he couldn't talk to and was a friend to all.
David is survived by his wife, Gayla and three children, Shannon and Chris Stewart of Jenks, OK; Matthew and Suzie Miles of Guthrie, OK and Meredith and Ross Langendorfer of Guthrie, OK. His most precious grandchildren Cade and Conley Stewart, Maven Langendorfer and Kobe and Maddox Contreras. He is also survived by his sister Vickie and Rob Fisher of Oklahoma City, OK. Survivors also include in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. And last, but not least, he is survived by his dear friend, Phil, affectionately known as Papa Phil.
Public visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 26th with family present greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel.
