Dennis Leon Lovett

Dennis Leon Lovett, 72, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Dennis was born on October 17, 1953, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Davis and Barbara Lovett. He was raised in Redfield, South Dakota, where he excelled both in the classroom and in athletics. He served as class president, was editor of the school newspaper, and was a standout basketball and track athlete. Throughout his life, he loved sharing stories from his South Dakota days and remained proud of the friendships and experiences that shaped him.

After graduating from Oklahoma Christian University, Dennis began his career as a middle school teacher and basketball coach before joining A-1 Freeman Moving and Storage. He spent the next 49 years helping build A-1 into one of the premier moving and storage businesses in the country. As co-owner, he took great pride in serving customers well, leading with integrity, and forming lasting relationships with employees, customers, and industry partners. Through decades of faithful work, he earned the respect of all who worked alongside him.

Dennis was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Dena, and a loving father to Jerad (Brooklyn) Lovett, Jessica (Adam) Nevitt, Jeff (Alissa) Lovett, and Jaclyn (Adam) Burroughs. Nothing brought him greater joy than his family, especially his 15 grandchildren: Colton, Connor, Julianne, Cale, Ben, Mason, Sean, Lane, Arrow, Emery, Vivienne, Weston, Blakely, Jace, and Lucas.

He is also survived by his sisters, Pam, Linda, and Patty, and his brother, Richard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Davis and Barbara Lovett, and his brother, Ron Lovett.

A faithful follower of Christ, Dennis was a devoted member of Memorial Road Church of Christ for 31 years. His faith shaped every aspect of his life, and worship with his church family on Sundays was simply part of who he was. His steady trust in the Lord provided a humble example to his family and all who knew him.

Dennis enjoyed fishing, traveling the world with Dena, cheering on the Oklahoma City Thunder and OU football, and following college basketball, including attending over 20 NCAA Final Fours. Those closest to him knew his gentle heart, generosity, loyalty, and deep love for his family.

More than anything else, Dennis will be remembered as a faithful husband, a loving father and grandfather, a trusted friend, and a man whose life reflected strength and enduring faith.

He lived with the confident hope of the resurrection found in Jesus Christ, and that same hope now comforts those who loved him.

A celebration of Dennis’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Memorial Road Church of Christ in Oklahoma City. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Memorial Road’s Mission Sunday in his honor.
