Devin Lee Waggoner came into the world on May 3, 1961, and was the first born, and only surviving son, of Glenda Lee (West) Waggoner and Donald Lee Waggoner. Born in Okmulgee, he was raised in Oklahoma City and graduated from Guthrie High School. He was actively involved in the academic bowl in high school and college. In 1983 he graduated with a BA in psychology and 1990 he received his masters in education both from Central State University in Edmond (now UCO). Devin lived a short time in Tulsa, but eventually ended up back in Oklahoma City.
In 1996 he met his wife, Jenifer Leigh Waggoner, while working for Hertz car rentals. They were married in 1999, and recently celebrated their 25th anniversary. While Jenifer was Devin's legal wife, his first true love was Aunt Kay-Kay. At her wedding to Jim McKee, little 5 year old Devin pleaded through sobs, "Please Aunt Kay-Kay, don't marry him! I'll marry you when I grow up!" Needless to say, Uncle Jim wasn't accepted for quite some time.
In October 2004, Devin went to work as a Disability Determination Specialist for the state of Oklahoma, where he recently celebrated his 20th anniversary.
Devin and his dad, Don, enjoyed watching football and basketball on television. He believed in only those two seasons, everything else was preparation for football or basketball. Devin surely bled crimson and cream since it was OU or nothing!
Devin was an active member of the Oakwood Church of Christ and established many close friends and extended family members within the congregation. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers for Devin's funeral, the family asks for donations to be made to the Oklahoma City Zoo in remembrance of Devin Waggoner.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond, OK.
