Dexter Sanford Clenney was born in Wetumka, Oklahoma on February 27, 1920, the son of James Woodward and Ollie Bell Eason Clenney. He grew up in the Wetumka area and was a member of the greatest generation, During WWII he was a member of the 80 th division under General George Patton. He was a proud WWII veteran.

When he returned home from the service, he married the love of his life Joan Roquemore. They were residents of Atwood for more than 50 years where he raised cattle and farmed. After Joan's passing he married Lamesa Byrd in 1997 and they enjoyed 17 happy years together.

Surviving are Lamesa Byrd Clenney of the home, two sons Larry Dean Clenney and wife Kim of Sand Springs, Oklahoma and Randy Doyle Clenney and wife Judy of Choctaw, Oklahoma. He is survived by one brother Harmon Doyle Clenney and was predeceased by sisters Luby Helen Clenney Sorrell, Ruby A lma Clenney Young and Jewel Rowene Clenney, brothers Russell Clenney and Ramond Kenneth Clenney. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren Dana Clenney of Moore, Oklahoma, Laura Clenney of Dallas, Texas, Camber Clenney Thompson of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Trevor Clenney of Midlothian, Texas and Cari Clenney Murray of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, 6 great grandchildren many beloved nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Dexter passed away on December 9, 2014 in Norman, Oklahoma.

Services are 1:00 p.m. Friday December 12, 2014 at Faith Freewill Baptist Church in Holdenville, Oklahoma with interment to follow in Wetumka.
