Dianna Lee Masters

January 11, 1950 — March 20, 2026

Edmond

Dianna Lee Masters was born January 11, 1950, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to Stanley and Helen Schroeder. After a well fought battle with cancer, she passed away in the comfort of her home on the first day of spring, March 20th, 2026. Dianna grew up & spent most of her life in Watonga, Oklahoma. She graduated from Watonga High School in 1968 and went on to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where she graduated cum laude in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education.

While at SWOSU, she met her future husband, Troy John Giles. They wed on May 16, 1973, on their lunch hour, and were married for 27 years until his passing. Together, they had two daughters, Amy Elizabeth and Erin Ayn. Once Erin was school aged, Dianna began her teaching career in kindergarten. It was perfect timing because she knew she had found her calling. For the next 25 years, she taught at Watonga Public Schools and was devoted to her students. It wasn’t out of the ordinary for a former student to comment that Mrs. Giles was their favorite teacher, a compliment that she cherished. In 2007 she was honored as Teacher of the Year.

In 2005, Dianna married Danny Masters. They had both lost their spouses to cancer, so it was with some “divine intervention” that they met and were married for 15 years before Danny’s passing in 2020.

Dianna enjoyed playing tennis, traveling with friends, gardening, and reading a good book. She loved being in a Bible study group where she grew in her faith, in a book club where she spent time with friends and being part of the “gal pals.” But above all, her favorite thing to be was Granna to her three grandchildren. She loved supporting their many activities - from track and soccer to Kismet Theater and band. She also got a kick out of hosting an annual back-to-school bash so that the kids would always have school supplies and snacks. She loved wonderful Wednesdays, tea parties, and playing hot wheels.

Dianna was active in the Lyric Theatre Circle of Stars, Adams County Land Conservatory in Gettysburg, PA, ORTA, St. Luke’s Methodist Church & Edmond Public Schools.

Dianna is preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, John and Danny. She is survived by her daughters, Amy McIlhenny and her husband Andrew of Edmond, Oklahoma; and Dr. Erin Giles and her husband, Tony Raveling of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren Ava and Asher McIlhenny of Edmond, OK, and Hudson Raveling of Phoenix, AZ; brothers Lyman Schroeder and his wife Frances , Rodney Schroeder and his wife Gail; extended family members including Carol Lust and Becky Schroeder, Carol and Harold Paden, Marilyn Giles, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who supported Dianna during her illness – especially Tasha Hodges, Barbara Robinson, De’Ja Hill & Marjorie Palmore, whose care, and compassion brought comfort and hope.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Regional Food Bank or Feed the Children.

A Celebration of Life will be held beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 28th, 2026, at St. Luke's Methodist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma.
