Dixie Miller Stewart Wagner of Edmond, Oklahoma, was born on March 1st, 1940, and departed her earthly life on March 13, 2026.
She was born to Jake and Ruth (Harper) Miller, in Blanchard, Oklahoma. She is survived by her husband, David Wagner; her older brother, Billy Miller; sons Robert Bowers; Patrick Bowers (Debbie); stepchildren, Davina Van Duker (Mark), Darrin Wagner (Susan), Sarah Faul (Brian), Sharla Guest (Keith), grandchildren, Shelby Weston (Aaron), Maclean Bowers (Camille); Abby Van Duker, Heidi Van Duker, David Wagner (Cheyenne), Haley Faul and Ethan Faul; great grandson, Rowan Weston. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was especially fond of her niece, Tiffany Smith (Don) who welcomed her back to Oklahoma after living many years in California.
Dixie held a doctorate in psychology and a master’s degree in counseling. Before retirement, her most recent positions included being an adjunct professor of psychology at Mid America Christian University and adjunct staff of Christian Counseling Associates in Edmond.
She was an accomplished author whose published works include Charlie’s Mark, Jackson’s Sons, A Song for Joshua Miller, and In Sunshine and In Shadow. Through her writing, she explored themes of struggle, resilience, courage, perseverance, love and hope.
Dixie spent much of her life listening to people, encouraging them and helping them through difficult times. She loved entertaining, attending parties, traveling and enjoying her friends and family.
Dixie will be remembered for her wisdom, strength, kindness and the encouragement she gave so freely to others. Her legacy will live on in her family, friends, students and all those whose lives are better because they knew her.
The family would like to recognize the wonderful care she received from Senior Helpers of Oklahoma City, Legacy Family Hospice, Epworth Villa and most of all her devoted husband!
In lieu of flowers or donations, make a toast in her honor, hug and tell your friends and family that you love them, and repeat!
There will be a public viewing at Matthews Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
A Memorial Service for Dixie will be held at Edmond First Presbyterian Church at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026, in Edmond, OK. Burial will be held following the service on Thursday, March 19, 2026, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City, OK.
