Donald Eugene Banister
1949-2015

Donald Eugene Banister was born November 25, 1949 to Imal and Ellen Banister in Emporia, Kansas. He went home on January 12, 2015.
Don Banister served as manager of the natural gas engine oil (NEGO) product line for CITGO Lubricants. Don joined CITGO in l990 where he served various leadership roles. Prior to CITGO he worked for CATO a division of Kerr McGee and Oklahoma Farm Bureau.
Don graduated with a bachelor's degree in agriculture economics from Kansas State University. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He continued to hold great pride in his Kansas State fighting Wildcats!
Don was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City over 30 years, leaving great friends in the Family and Fellowship Sunday School class. He enjoyed countless outdoor activities which primarily focused on many special times with his son Caleb mountain biking, deer hunting, pheasant hunting, turkey hunting, trout fishing, and skipping rocks. Coaching basketball for Ashley and Caleb was enjoyed by all with endless hours shooting baskets in the drive way. If Don's family wasn't on a family vacation they were planning the next one which brought him tremendous enjoyment. Don was married to Carol Morray Banister for 39 years and remained friends with her for the past 2 ½ years.
He is survived by Carol Morray Banister, two children: Ashley Dawn Banister-Riley and husband Patrick of Denver, Colorado, Caleb Andrew Banister and wife Maddie of Edmond, Oklahoma. Don was blessed with great joy when two priceless grand-daughters entered his life in the last year Anna Marie Banister and Beatrice Grace Banister-Riley. Don has four siblings: Mary Duncan of Emporia, Kansas, Gerald Banister of Vassar, Ks, Betty Tucker and Frank Banister of Hartford, Kansas. Don was loved by many nieces, nephews and great nieces/nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Imal Banister and Ellen Banister.
Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 17, 2015.
