Donald Dean Coyle May 18, 1936 – May 17, 2025
Donald Dean Coyle, just one day shy of his 89th birthday, passed away peacefully at home in Oklahoma City in the early morning hours of May 17, 2025. Born on May 18, 1936, in Lenora , Oklahoma, to Clyde and Ora Coyle, Don was a proud Oklahoman who lived a full and meaningful life.
Don served honorably in the United States Air Force, a chapter of his life that instilled the discipline, pride, and commitment to service that he carried with him throughout his years.
He was married for 65 wonderful years to the prettiest girl at Western Electric—after charming her into a first date that turned into a lifetime of love and partnership. Don worked as a system tester at Western Electric/Lucent Technologies and retired after 38 years of dedicated service.
He was a man of many passions. His love of knives and coins began in boyhood and never faded. If you ever visited Don's home, you likely went home with one of his treasured knives and a story to go with it. He loved sharing his collections and the joy they brought.
Don also had a gift for cooking. His ribs, shish kebabs, and brisket were legendary—and if you knew him, odds are you've been fed by him. His signature BBQ sauce, Pops BBQ Sauce , was a special point of pride. He bottled his own recipe and shared it generously, bringing smiles to every table it touched.
Don found the Lord in his 20s and served faithfully as a Trustee at Parkview Assembly of God for many years. His faith and commitment to the church were central to his life.
Together with his beloved wife Carlene, Don raised five children:
- Lola Allen (husband Mark) of Durant, OK
- Tony Platt of Oklahoma City
- Vicki Hietpas (husband Jerry) of Oklahoma City
- Karen Holloway of Oklahoma City
- Kim Hull (husband Dale) of Maumelle, AR
They have ten grandchildren and adopted two of them as their own. He leaves behind 27 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought joy to his heart and pride to his smile.
Donald Dean Coyle lived a life of service, love, and generosity. Whether through his military service, his work, his church, or his backyard BBQ, he left a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Services will be held at Christ Legacy Church on Wednesday, May 21st at 10:00 AM. Address: 11101 N. Morgan Rd, Yukon, OK 73099.
