Richard Maule

August 6, 1939 — September 15, 2025

Edmond

Donald Richard Maule, Jr., died on September 15, 2025, at the age of 86. Richard was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1939, to Donald and Jessie Maule. He grew up in Sand Springs. In addition to being an Eagle Scout, Army veteran, and long-time teacher, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed.

He married the love of his life, Mary Kay Davis. Together, they had three sons, Michael, David, and Scott.

Richard received his undergraduate and master's degrees from OSU. He then taught science classes in Broken Arrow and Union schools, where he was Teacher of the Year, department chair, and head of the local teachers’ union. After retirement, he was a master gardener, amateur photographer, and founder of local Great Decisions groups in Tulsa and Edmond. Richard was always warm, courageously curious, and enjoyed good people, food, and debate. His sons cherish their camping and canoe trips, watching shooting stars on the hood of a jeep, and his advice to call ahead, always be in motion when on a team, and treasure family. He is the measure by which they judge themselves.

Richard is survived by his wife Mary Kay, sons Michael and Scott, daughters-in-law Melissa and Maria, grandkids Isabelle, Alexander, Sabrina, and Donovan, and sister Julia Ferguson.
