Donna Carter-Patterson, a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend went to be with our Lord and Savior on May 13, 2026.
On July 28, 1957, the daughter of George Kenneth “Ken” Carter and Thelma Marie Russell Carter, was born in Midland, Texas. The family moved to Odessa where she spent some of her early years. They also lived in Amarillo and Monohans. When she was age 9, the family moved to Fort Worth, where she graduated from high school at O.D. Wyatt in 1975.
Soon after graduation, the family moved to Edmond, Oklahoma, where Donna got into silk-screen printing for several years and then worked in various call centers including Hertz and Sprint.
She attended community college in Oklahoma City and obtained a paralegal certificate.
When Donna was aged 19, she had daughter Laura Marie Carter Ornelas. While she was married to Brian Patterson, they had daughter Jessi Ann Patterson.
She had a long-term relationship with Steve Holmes. They had an annual fish-fry with over 200 guests in attendance at their property east of Edmond.
Donna was a Christian, but she did not favor organized religion. She believed in basic Christian tenants like salvation through belief in Jesus and an eternal destiny in heaven. Donna also loved to dance to whatever was playing.
Donna fought a long, brave battle with breast cancer. Her sister Bobbie Holliday wishes to thank all those who provided her care. She went into remission for some time. When the cancer returned, Bobbie and niece Melissa Holliday provided a great deal of support. Her final days were spent at Edmond Integris Hospital.
Donna was preceded in death by her father Ken Carter and her mother Thelma Carter, of Edmond. She is survived by her sister Bobbie Holliday, of Edmond, her daughters Laura Ornelas, of Oklahoma City, and Jessi Patterson, of Palm Desert, California, and many grandchildren including Christopher Carter, who would come to her house in the morning for breakfast and coffee, nephew Alan Holliday, niece Melissa Holliday, other nieces and nephews, great grandchildren and too many friends to list.
Memorial service information will be announced at a later date.
