Doris Mae Nelson

Doris Mae Nelson of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away November 22, 2025, peacefully at her home. Doris was born to Esther Moody in Chicago, Illinois.

Doris was married to Bernard Nelson for 48 years until his passing. Through their union Doris was blessed with three sons, Larry, Jim, and Richard. She lived for her three boys; they were the love of her life!

As a homemaker Doris ensured her family was always taken care of, from cooking grand meals to coordinating her three boys’ schedules. Doris was a wonderful artist and enjoyed partnering with the Edmond Fine Arts Institute to share her love of the arts with the Edmond community.

Doris is preceded in death by her loving husband, Bernard Nelson, her mother, Esther Moody and a sister Joy Marsh.

Doris is survived by her sons and their spouses, Larry Nelson and wife Sandra Nelson of Ravenna, TX, Jim Nelson, and wife Robin of Ada, OK, and Richard Nelson and wife Judy of Edmond, OK. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michelle Claflin, Phillip Nelson, Kyle Nelson, Derek Nelson, and Tyler Nelson, as well as her great-grandchildren, Caitlin Baney, Carley Claflin, Zander Nelson, Presley Nelson, Declan Kelley, and Rafferty Nelson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 28th, at Matthews Funeral Home, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m..

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 29th, at Matthews Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
