Dorothy Calvert
1925 – 2019
Dorothy Bell Calvert, 93, of Edmond, OK, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 1, 2019. The daughter of William Mason Burgess and Berta Alice Burgess, she was born July 12, 1925 in Okarche, OK as the next to youngest child out of ten children (two brothers and seven sisters). She married Robert L. Calvert and from that union had three children, Robert, Ruthie and Mark. Dorothy was a homemaker staying home to raise her family. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert L., son, Robert, daughter Ruthie Russell, granddaughter, Sonya Wade, grandson, Shannon Stricklen and all nine of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son, Mark Calvert and wife Denise of Edmond, grandsons, Brian Calvert, Bobby Calvert, Jon Calvert, Tyler Calvert, Kyle Calvert, great-granddaughters, Nicole Self and Dakota Harvie, great-great granddaughters, Breckyn and Harper Self, great-great grandson, Austin Stricklen and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Bradford Village in Edmond for taking care of Dorothy in her last years and also the staff of Good Shepherd Hospice. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2019. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel in Edmond and burial will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery.
