Douglas Lane Pearson
1962-2017
Douglas (Doug) Lane Pearson, 55, of Edmond, OK, passed away from cancer on Friday, August 18, 2017 at OU Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
Douglas was born on June 4, 1962 in Dell Rapids, SD. He was the second of three sons born to Glen and Della Pearson. Douglas graduated from Pipestone High School in 1980, where he met his wife, Peggy, whom he later married on June 11, 1983 in Pipestone, MN. Douglas played football and wrestled in high school and continued to wrestle into college. He received his first degree from Southwest State University in Marshall, MN. He then gained employment at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, where he worked as an engineer since 1985. Doug later earned a BS in Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. Douglas went on to earn his MS from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 2001. Douglas was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He was also an enthusiastic fan of the Minnesota Vikings, Timberwolves, Twins and Gophers.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Peggy of Edmond, OK; sons, Morgan of Minneapolis, MN and Peyton of Edmond; brothers Mark of Faribault, MN and Christopher and his wife Heidi of Juneau, AK; aunts, Shirley Anderson of Sioux Falls, SD, Judy Thompson-Rath of Flandreau, SD, and Lucille Johns of Brookings, SD; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 1 pm at First Presbyterian Church in Edmond, OK with Reverend Matt Jones officiating. Questions may be directed to Matthews Funeral Home, (405) 341-2787.
Douglas will be remembered as a loving, dedicated, and generous husband, father, son, brother, uncle and co-worker.
