When Ann asked him if he was ready to go be with the Lord, he said yes. Then she asked him if he wanted a kiss and he puckered up and then he got one more.
He met the love of his lite, Elizabeth Ann Henthorn, at the University Church of Christ in Norman, OK. Ther were married on January 1, 1966. They moved to Edmond, OK after Ann graduated from OU so Doyle could attend Central State College where he obtained a degree in education. They had one son, Robert, in 1980. They were both elementary school teachers for many years.
Doyle retired from teaching to pursue a career in tailoring and alterations. In the early 2000s he began to make and design costumes for the VBS drama at the Edmond Church of Christ and a few other small churches in the area with the help of many talented seamstresses. He was a drama coach for youth participating in Leadership Training for Christ tor several years. He also spent almost 10 years teaching at a local Mother's Day Out.
Doyle enjoyed making flower arrangements, cooking, hosting numerous extravagant parties and just having a good time and a good laugh with friends and family.
Doyle's health suffered the last few years of his life, but he remained positive and never complained. He missed being with his church family and longed to return when his health improved and he never gave up hope that he would be able to return.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and his brother, Neal.
