Edward Eugene Swick
September 18, 1934 – February 10, 2021
Edward Eugene (Gene) Swick was born on September 18th, 1934 to Ed and Betty Swick in Oklahoma City. He grew up in Oklahoma City with his sister Dorothy and his brother Jerry. He proudly served in the Air Force for four years before attending the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Chemistry and worked at Tinker Air Force Base for the Department of Defense for 42 years. He was extremely respected in his field and proud of his work. Gene married Cynthia Pearl Swick in 1969 and adopted Vandy Lynne the next year. The couple lost their newborn son, Mark Earl in 1972. They adopted Paul David in 1974. Their family moved to Hochheim, W. Germany in 1980 and spent three years traveling much of Europe while Gene worked at Lindsey Air Station. They returned to their home in Edmond. Cynthia died in 1989. Gene is survived by his children, Vandy and Paul, nine beautiful grandchildren: Joseph, Elizabeth, Maria, Abigail, Daniel, Sean, Christopher, Ethan and Lilla. Gene was extremely proud of his family. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree and of the American Legion. He truly lived for Faith, Family and Country.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond, Oklahoma, with a Wake Service at 6:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Monica Catholic Church in Edmond, Oklahoma on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 10:00 AM.
Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
