Edward Glen Woods
1935-2019
Edward Glen Woods, the eldest son of Teddy G. and Sylvia C. (Towner) Woods, was born at home in Sharon, Woodward Co., OK on December 6, 1935 and moved to Seiling, OK in 1936. He passed from this life January 13, 2019. He graduated from Seiling schools (1954) and received B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees (1963) in Mechanical Engineering (petroleum option) at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, OK. He and Norma Louise Raines, his wife of 58 years, were married September 3, 1960 in Fanshawe, Leflore Co., OK. To this union were born three daughters, Linda Louise, Susan Gail and Laura Lynn. He and Norma have both served as lay ministers in the Community of Christ.
Ed joined an affiliate of ExxonMobil in 1963 in Tulsa, OK and worked as a reservoir engineer and supervisor for 35 years in 6 affiliate companies, attaining the position of Senior Engineering Advisor. He and his family lived in Tulsa, OK, Houston, TX, Edmonton Alberta Canada, Sydney Australia and Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. He retired in 1998 and he and Norma moved to Tyler, TX in 1999 and to Edmond, OK in 2011. He was a licensed professional engineer (Texas) and received the Legion of Honor Award for 50 years membership in the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). He was co-inventor of several patents and co-author of a number of technical publications.
He is survived by his wife, Norma, their daughters, Linda Rose and husband, Dirk, Susan Woods, Laura Sanders and husband, Mark, 5 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, brother, Roy Woods and wife, Sandra, and nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Edmond Community of Christ Church 1200 E. Danforth Rd. Edmond, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial donations to Outreach International ( www.outreach-international.org ) in memory of Edward G. Woods.
